Biography
Former Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype co-champion Alex Gurney rejoins teammate Jon Fogarty in the No. 99 GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing Pontiac Riley for the 2009 Rolex Series season. The pair will by joined by Jimmy Vasser and reigning and three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Personal
Gurney is the son of legendary racer Dan Gurney, who was the first driver to win races in Formula One, NASCAR and the IndyCar Series in their career. He holds a Business Administration degree from the University of Colorado.
Racing Career
2008
Finished second in Rolex Series Daytona Prototype championship with teammate Jon Fogarty, scoring one victory and eight top-five finishes, including Rolex 24 podium.
2007
Along with Fogarty won Rolex Series Daytona Prototype title by two points on strength of seven victories. Also garnered two poles, including qualifying record for Rolex 24 At Daytona. Named to AARWBA All-America First Team for events.
2006
Made 12 Rolex Series starts, scoring two runner-up finishes.
2005
Scored two poles and four top-10 finishes in first seven Rolex Series races, including runner-up finish.
